TP-Link Tapo C200 won't connect to wifi: what to do
The app reports the camera cannot find wifi or setup gets stuck.
We could not fully consult the manufacturer's support page for this model; the steps are general and may differ in details.
Most likely causes
Phone is on 5 GHz while camera needs 2.4 GHz
- Check your phone's wifi settings and make sure it is connected to the 2.4 GHz network, not the 5 GHz band.
- If your router uses one name for both bands, temporarily rename the 2.4 GHz band in the router settings so you can connect to it directly.
- Connect the phone to that 2.4 GHz network and retry setup in the Tapo app.
Wrong wifi password entered
- On the wifi entry screen in the Tapo app, retype the wifi password exactly, watching for capital letters and symbols.
- Retry the pairing process and check if the app reports success.
Camera too far from router or lots of obstructions
- Move the camera closer to the router during setup (same room if possible).
- If setup succeeds, move the camera back and confirm the signal is still strong enough.
Router settings blocking new devices (client isolation or MAC filter)
- Open your router settings and check that 'client isolation' or 'AP isolation' is turned off.
- Check for a MAC filter that could block new devices; disable it or add the camera's MAC address, then retry setup.
Factory reset
WARNING: A factory reset erases all settings and linked accounts; you will need to set the camera up again in the Tapo app.
- Ensure the camera is plugged in to power.
- Locate the reset button (small pinhole or button on the bottom/back of the camera).
- Press and hold the reset button for about 5–10 seconds until you hear a tone or the LED changes.
- Release the button and wait for the camera to reboot (may take about a minute).
- Open the Tapo app and add the camera again via 'Add Device'.
