Sonos Era 100 won't connect to wifi: what to do
Era 100 does not join Wi‑Fi or stays stuck during setup.
Most likely causes
usually this
Phone and speaker are on different Wi‑Fi networks or on a guest network.
- Check which Wi‑Fi name (SSID) your phone is using.
- Put your phone on the same Wi‑Fi name as you want the speaker on; avoid guest networks.
- If your router uses two bands, ensure the phone is on the same band the router recommends for devices.
common
Weak signal or speaker too far from the router.
- Move the Era 100 temporarily closer to the router (a few metres) and try again.
- Avoid large metal objects or very thick walls between the speaker and router.
common
Router settings blocking devices or requiring a captive login page.
- Make sure your Wi‑Fi does not use a captive portal login page; use a normal home network.
- Check the router for MAC filtering or client isolation and disable them or add the Era 100.
sometimes
Temporary glitch; app or speaker needs a restart.
- Force‑close the Sonos app and reopen it.
- Unplug the Era 100 for 10 seconds and plug it back in.
Factory reset
WARNING: a factory reset deletes registration, any content saved to My Sonos on this product and linked music services; you will need to set it up again.
- Unplug the power cord.
- Press and hold the Bluetooth button and reconnect the power cord while still holding the button.
- Keep holding until the light on the front flashes orange and white.
- When the light flashes green, release the button; the Era 100 is now factory reset and ready to be added again.
Frequently asked
Should I reset the Era 100 for setup issues?
Resetting erases all settings; first try restarting the app and speaker and verifying Wi‑Fi and app permissions.
The app can't find my Era 100 but the light is on — what now?
Make sure your phone is on the same Wi‑Fi network, grant the Sonos app local network access and enable Bluetooth temporarily.
Can I use Bluetooth to complete the setup?
Bluetooth may assist detection, but you must add the speaker to your Wi‑Fi network via the Sonos app.
What happens to my services after a reset?
Music services are removed from that speaker and must be re-added through your Sonos account in the app.
