We could not fully consult the manufacturer's support page for this model; the steps are general and may differ in details.
Most likely causes
Printer or router too far apart / weak signal
- Move the printer closer to the router to improve signal strength.
- Turn off or move devices that might cause interference (e.g. microwaves, large metal objects).
- Try connecting again with the printer within a couple of metres of the router.
- Signal: the printer indicates Wi‑Fi connected or the app shows 'online'.
You are using a 5 GHz network while the printer needs 2.4 GHz
- Check your router to ensure a 2.4 GHz network is active and note its SSID.
- Temporarily connect your phone to that 2.4 GHz SSID or enable a guest 2.4 GHz network with a simple name.
- Connect the printer via the app to the 2.4 GHz SSID and enter the password.
- Signal: the app shows the printer connected on the 2.4 GHz network.
Wrong Wi‑Fi name or password entered
- Verify the Wi‑Fi password by connecting another device (phone or laptop) to the network.
- Enter the password exactly, watch for capitals and special characters.
- Try connecting again through the Canon PRINT app.
- Signal: another device connects successfully and the printer reports connection.
Temporary router or printer glitch
- Turn the router off, wait 30 seconds, then turn it back on.
- Turn the printer off, wait 10 seconds, then turn it back on.
- Retry the Wi‑Fi setup in the app.
- Signal: after restart the app or printer shows the connection restored.
Factory reset
Warning: a factory reset erases all network settings and personal preferences. You must set up the printer again in the Canon PRINT app afterwards.
- Turn the printer on and open the 'Setup' or 'Settings' menu on the display.
- Select 'Reset' or 'Restore default settings' (may be under 'Management' or 'System settings').
- Confirm that you want to erase all settings and wait until the printer completes the process.
- After the reset the printer may restart; run the initial setup steps again in the Canon PRINT app.
